Whether you're a two-wheeled novice or a seasoned road veteran, we can help you take the ride of your life. Combining the time-tested curriculum of the Motorcycle Safety Foundation® with the passion of Harley-Davidson®, the New Harley-Davidson® Riding Academy™ Course offers hands-on instruction and real-road experience that can teach you the skills you need to get the most out of riding.

A proven blend of classroom instruction and range riding, the Harley-Davidson® Riding Academy™ New Rider Course delivers the basics of motorcycle operation in Harley-Davidson® style. You'll learn from devoted instructors certified by both the Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) and Harley-Davidson® to create a relaxed, supportive environment that fosters camaraderie and confidence. After successful completion of a written and riding skills evaluation, you'll receive an MSF RiderCourse Completion Card that could exempt you from the written and/or riding portion of the motorcycle license test, as well as possibly qualify you for discounts on insurance. Important Information for Harley-Davidson® Riding Academy™ Students

WEST VIRGINIA RESIDENTS: WV residents are required by the state to have their motorcycle learner's permit (or temporary motorcycle instruction permit) prior to attending class. It is a short knowledge test (no riding required) that is taken at the students local DMV.

VIRGINIA RESIDENTS: The state of Virginia requires that all students taking a beginner motorcycle riding course wear a three-quarter shell or full face motorcycle helmet that meets U.S. Department of Transportation Safety standards. As long as students have other eye protection for the class, face shields are not mandatory.

We have a small supply of three-quarter shell helmets to loan for class on a first come, first serve basis. Please let us know as soon as you can that you would like to use one of these helmets so we can reserve it for you. Otherwise, please make sure that you secure an appropriate helmet before class range activities begin.

Class Cancellation/Refund Policy

Cole Harley-Davidson® is committed to providing quality training and helping students become safe motorcyclists in a fun and safe environment. A student must demonstrate safe riding to remain in the class. Circumstances may arise in which the student may be unable to attend the class. In such situations, the following policy applies:

Tuition will be refunded in full when cancellation occurs up to fourteen (14) calendar days prior to the first scheduled day of class. Cancellation that occurs between fourteen (14) and seven (7) calendar days prior to the first scheduled day of class will receive no refunds; however, the student may register one more time for another class within one year from the beginning date of class at no additional charge. Cancellation that occurs less than seven (7) calendar days prior to the first scheduled day of class will receive no refunds and the student is not entitled to a course reschedule.

All unendorsed students must obtain a temporary motorcycle instructional permit prior to attending class. Please note your state's specific rules regarding obtaining this permit. Failure to provide a temporary motorcycle instructional permit on the first scheduled day of the course is grounds for dismissal from the course without any refund or rescheduling.

A student who reports for training but withdraws from class prior to completing the entire course will receive no refunds.

A student who does not report for class on time at the beginning of each training day will be released from the course by the Harley-Davidson® Riding Academy™ instructors. Promptness is mandatory. Once the training day has begun, it will not be stopped to catch up a tardy student. A student may also be dismissed at any time during the course by the Harley-Davidson® Riding Academy™ instructor(s) for being disruptive, violating range rules, or exhibiting skill level development that is detrimental or presents a hazard to conducting the training for the class. Dismissed students will receive no refunds.

Students who complete the course but are unsuccessful at the skill test may retake the entire course one time within six (6) months on a space available basis at no additional cost. If the student does not show up for class or is unsuccessful upon completing the course at this opportunity, the entire tuition is forfeited. The student may take the course again, but must pay the full tuition for an additional session.

Although course cancellation notice will be given to students at the earliest possible opportunity, Cole Harley-Davidson® reserves the right to cancel a course at any time. If course cancellation occurs, Cole Harley-Davidson® will reschedule the course or place students in other available courses. If cancels a course and an enrolled student cannot enroll in a rescheduled course, a full refund will be given to the student.

In the case of inclement weather, every effort will be made to continue with the class. The New Rider Course will not be cancelled due to rain. However, if a course must be cancelled due to heavy rain or thunderstorms, the course will be rescheduled or students will be placed in other available class openings.

The course fee is $295 plus tax.
